ACCEPTED American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard (not debit or prepaid), Visa (not prepaid). Debit card not accepted unless otherwise stated below. A deposit amount of NZD 3200 will be held against your credit card for the duration of the rental. Your deposit is a guarantee held in the event of damage/theft of the vehicle. This will be released if there is no theft or damage during the rental period. Please note that this does not represent your total excess liability which can be found in the Damage Waiver Liability section. NOT ACCEPTED: No other payment types will be accepted. A valid credit card in the first name and surname of the lead driver (no abbreviations) must be presented at the rental desk in order to pre-authorize/charge a deposit. The credit card(s) must be embossed and a PIN number may be required. In the event that you fail to present a valid credit card, there is a lack of sufficient funds available on the credit card or the credit card is not in the lead driver's name, the car rental agent may refuse to release the vehicle. In these instances, no funds paid will be reimbursed. This location accepts Debit Cards. Conditions of debit card use: card must be in main driver's name. MasterCard or VISA only. Debit cards must be issued by a bank, and numbers must be embossed. Please note, the deposit amount will be charged if using a debit card and associated transactions fees may apply. Maximum rental duration 28 days if using a debit card. Prepaid and electronic cards (Visa Electron) are not accepted.

Customers who fall outside the age limitations will not be able to rent a car unless there is a young or senior driver fee specified in this section. Please note that, if applicable, this fee will be included in the rental price and will be payable on arrival at the rental desk in the local currency.

Travel Restrictions

Parts of New Zealand are not suitable for access by rental vehicles. To prevent Damage to the Vehicle and for Your own personal safety Europcar strictly enforce conditions that restrict Your use of the Vehicle and unless they have given their prior written consent, You must never take the Vehicle: (a) on any Unsealed Road unless Unsealed Road Cover has been purchased; (b) within a Snow Area unless Snow Cover has been purchased; (c) Off Road; (d) between the North and South Islands in either direction or onto any island that is off mainland New Zealand; (e) through any river, stream, creek or tidal crossing; (f) through flood waters or on flood prone roads or on any road where the state or condition of the road make the use of the Vehicle unsafe; (g) on any road where the police or any government or statutory authority has issued a warning, caution or which has been closed; (h) onto any road where We have notified You that the use of the Vehicle is prohibited; (i) on the following roads: (i) Ball Hutt (Mt Cook); (ii) Skippers (Queenstown); or (iii) 90 Mile Beach (Northland); (j) on all roads north of Colville on the Coromandel Peninsula, the Tapu to Coroglen road (all parts east of Rapaura Gardens), the 309 road from Coromandel to Kairnarama and the Blackjack Road from Kuatuna and Opito; or (k) on the following highways on the South Island between the hours of 2200 and 0600 (local time) from 1 April until 31 October: (i) State Highways 6 and 8 between Twizel and Queenstown; (ii) the Milford Road between Te Anau and Milford Sound; (iii) State Highway 6 between Franz Joseph and Wanaka; or (iv) Arthur’s Pass. Inter-Island policy: An Inter-Island rental is limited to the following scenarios: · Driver leaves the existing vehicle at a Europcar station at one island; · Driver travels across by ferry onto the next island without any vehicle; and · Driver picks up new vehicle at a Europcar station upon arrival to the second island. · Inter-island travel occurs in the same day · Locations are limited to either the Picton Ferry or Wellington Ferry · No Europcar vehicles are permitted to be taken onto the ferry at any time within New Zealand. · A maximum of one ferry crossing is permitted per reservation.
